The Pinchot Institute for Conservation hired me to completely re-design their website and set up a content management system and search engine. The new Pinchot.org, launched in August 2006, replaces an old frames-based site that was awkward to update and navigate.
The new site was tailored to suit the needs of a small, research-based organization with no in-house IT capacity. Program-related menus are set up so that non-technical staff can add, edit and remove menu items. A simple interface in the content management system makes it easy to upload PDFs and Word docs to the publications section.
By assigning news items to categories, staff can publish news to the homepage and to related program pages in a single step.
